I'm a sucker for natural light, and creating real, authentic moments rather than posed, forced photos. I love telling stories through my photography. My approach combines documentary and fine art into a beautiful, organic hybrid that is honest and raw. No contrived imagery - I go for the real thing. That's what inspires me as a photographer and an artist. YOU, yes you, inspire me and so does your story.
My Style
My favorite part of my job is that I get to work with families to capture their honest, authentic, messy, beautiful love for one another! Yes, I'll set some shots up and tweak things to make you look amazing, but my number one goal is that you walk away with real and genuine photos that truly capture this season in your family's life. The beautiful part of my job is that families are constantly growing and changing, and I get to capture those incredible moments in time for you to hold on to - because they go by so fast! Documenting my own daughters, I see and understand they grow up in the blink of an eye and I am so glad I have documented their life.
During the session we'll do a little bit of everything - unlike stuffy studio portraits where you're pulling your hair out trying to get your kids to sit still or smile on cue, my portrait sessions are all about interacting and having a blast! In my opinion, that's the best way to have a photoshoot!

Our area offers some of the best scenery around. If you're looking for amazing spots nearby, let me know and I'll be happy to give you some ideas 1 Think of places that speak to your family's personality, and are accessible for everyone involved. Locations that mean something to you are always best. All packages include travel up to 30 miles outside of the 28036 zip code. Further travel may have an additional fee. Evening light is the golden hour when photos of people are at their best. I try to schedule all sessions either early in the morning or an hour before sunset (taking into account your kids' nap & meal times).
LOCATION
Water, snacks, whatever you need to keep everyone happy1 For the girls, make up for touch ups. Four legged friends are more than welcome (if they play nice and our location allows pets!)
what to bring
To avoid last minute stress, make sure to
pick out all outfits well in advance.
If your outfits are new, make sure your kids
(if applicable) try them on prior to the
session to ensure proper fit. If they have a
chance to wear them a couple of times
before the day, they will be more
comfortable during the session. I have
several style guides on my Pinterest page
send you when your booking is complete so
you can get an idea of what looks best.
Keep in mind those are just ideas, the best
plan is to dress in what you're comfortable
in and something that is truly "you."
PREPARATION
Your clothing selection & choice of location will make the biggest
difference in the final feel and look of your photos 1 Feel free to
message me with photos of your ideas or questions about what will
look best for photos. Please keep in mind I do minimal editing,
although every image is indivudally edited with minor adjustments
such as light, cropping, and my signature filter. I don't photoshop my
images. If you have specific photoshop requests, please contact me
with that information. Each image you would like photoshopped is an
additional $75 each.
IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS
TIPS
I want your session to be enjoyable and fun for everyone involved. If your kid's clothing is uncomfortable for them to wear, it won't be nearly as fun. If you're planning outfits outside of what they are used to, I'd suggest "breaking them in" a few days in advance to get them used to the feeling of wearing those clothes.
Fitted= best. While flowy articles of clothing for the girls is fantastic, in general with pants + shirts for the boys, aim for fitted clothing that is on the tighter end of what you would normally wear. Avoid overly baggy jeans or loose fitting shirts etc.
Go for earthtones, textures, and solid colors. These are the most classic & timeless and will guarantee your outfits are still in style years from now rather than a trend1 It's also best to aim for layers in your clothing to provide visual interest and movement (especially for the girls! Dresses or a flowy shawl etc.) Again, you can view my Pinterest boards for inspiration.
Don't be too seasonal. While the idea of outfits for the season may be appealing, my aim is to produce photos that you can display in your home year round! Unless you live on the north pole, Christmas only really works once a year.
Don't match, coordinate. Pick a color combination for your family to work within. I don't want everyone to match perfectly or wear nothing but a single color, but I also don't want everyone wearing different colors and patterns that clash.
WARDROBE
WHAT IS YOUR SHOOTING STYLE FOR FAMILY PHOTOS?
I am a lifestyle photographer, and my style is geared towards capturing real moments! This means getting you interacting rather than alot of posing, and having a fun time together - because that's where the magic happens!
WHAT IF MY KIDS WON'T ENGAGE?
That's okay! Many children are shy or have a hard time with posing for photos. This is why we forget the posing and just get you all hanging out and loving on each other! You just enjoy the moment and I'll worry about the photos.
CAN I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY SESSION?
After booking, deposits are non-refundable, as I am holding the date for you and turning away other clients. If you need to reschedule, a $100 rescheduling fee will apply.
ARE SESSIONS INDOORS OR OUTDOORS?
All session locations are chosen collaboratively between us. By working together, we can bring your unique vision to life.
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK?
Booking well in advance is recommended! My current wait times for session openings are around 1-2 months, but cancellations do happen once in a while! When you complete the online booking process, your date is confirmed and we start planning your session.
HOW LONG IS THE TYPICAL PHOTOSHOOT?
Depending on your session type and the number of locations, the time can be anywhere from a fast 30 minutes to a full two hours of adventures where I tag along and document the action!
WHEN IS MY PAYMENT DUE?
Your deposit is due before the date can be reserved. The remainder of your balance is to be paid within 3 days of your session. You will get a reminder email, so no need to worry. Photos cannot be edited until payment has been made in full.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
I accept payment via Cash app, Square, or Venmo. Contact me for payment details to book your session, if you have questions about payments.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
No need to worry! If your shoot date gets rained out, we can either select an alternate location or reschedule on a date that fits you. Or we always can splash around in the rain!
